Founded by jewelry designers Sandy Collins, Amanda Lockrow and Heather Palleiko, The SoCal Bench Project is a group of California artisans who have come together to create positive change in our local community. They host an annual event working with a non-profit organization that directly benefits the members of our community who need assistance.
This year they are working with the Los Angeles, CA based non-profit organization New Directions Inc. which provides a wide variety of services for homeless veterans, including job training and placement, parenting and money management classes, legal and financial assistance, counseling, remedial education and resources for alumni. Our local community has a huge population of homeless veterans. With the current wars and the state of our military it is imperative that we support those who have fought for our county. Right here in our backyard we have numerous veterans who simply need medication, counseling and someone to show that they care.
The event is taking place on August 9, 2008 9:30am-3:00pm rain or shine at the Veteran's Memorial Center in Culver City, CA. Featuring thirty artisans from the contemporary craft, fine art, gifts, home and garden, jewelry and photography fields, there is something for everyone! FREE admission and FREE parking are just the beginning. There will be a raffle with some amazing prizes as well as music and food. Shop the work of artists from our community and help support a great cause at the same time!
